- Mupirocin IP – 2% w/w
- Ointment base – q.s.
Description
Mupirocin Ointment IP 2% w/w is a topical antibiotic used for the treatment of bacterial skin infections. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria that cause infections on the skin. The ointment is for external use only and is commonly prescribed for localized skin conditions.
Uses
Mupirocin ointment is used to treat bacterial skin infections, including:
- Impetigo
- Infected cuts, wounds, and minor burns
- Infected eczema and dermatitis
- Folliculitis (infection of hair follicles)
- Secondary bacterial infections of the skin
It is effective against common skin bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus species.
Dosage and Administration
- Clean and dry the affected area before application.
- Apply a thin layer of the ointment to the affected area.
- Use 2 to 3 times daily or as directed by a healthcare professional.
- Treatment duration is usually 5–10 days, depending on the severity of the infection.

Method of Use
