Product Description

Ondansetron 2mg Drop is a pediatric oral antiemetic formulation used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting in infants and children. It contains Ondansetron, a trusted and widely used serotonin (5-HT3) receptor antagonist that provides fast and effective relief from vomiting caused by various conditions.

The drop formulation ensures easy administration, accurate dosing, and better compliance in pediatric patients.

Composition

Each ml contains:

• Ondansetron Oral Solution I.P.
• Equivalent to Ondansetron 2 mg
• Excipients q.s.

Mechanism of Action

Ondansetron works by selectively blocking serotonin (5-HT3) receptors present in the gastrointestinal tract and central nervous system. These receptors play a key role in initiating the vomiting reflex. By inhibiting their action, Ondansetron effectively controls nausea and vomiting.

Uses / Indications

Ondansetron 2mg Drop is indicated for the prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting due to:

• Acute gastroenteritis
• Vomiting associated with fever or infections
• Drug-induced nausea and vomiting
• Post-operative nausea and vomiting
• Supportive treatment in dehydration management
• Other conditions causing vomiting, as advised by a physician

Dosage & Administration

Dosage should be determined by the physician based on the child’s age, body weight, and clinical condition.

General guidance (indicative only):

• Infants and children: Dose as prescribed by the pediatrician
• Can be given orally using the provided dropper
• May be administered with or without food

⚠️ Do not exceed the recommended dose.

Side Effects

Ondansetron is generally well tolerated. However, some patients may experience:

• Headache
• Constipation or diarrhea
• Dizziness
• Fatigue

These effects are usually mild and temporary. If any severe or unusual symptoms occur, consult a doctor immediately.

Precautions & Warnings

• Use with caution in children with liver disorders
• Not recommended in patients with known hypersensitivity to Ondansetron
• Avoid concurrent use with medicines that affect heart rhythm unless advised
